Bitcoin mining is a profitable business, but sadly, the environment continues to pay the price. The only way to ensure that the Bitcoin mining sector has less of an impact on the environment is to get to the source of the problem – the crypto mining machines that are responsible.

ASIC machines are specialised systems that are designed exclusively for crypto mining, and they are built to solve the highly specific mathematical equations needed to create new Bitcoins and validate transactions on the blockchain.

However, these same ASIC machines are responsible for releasing toxic greenhouse gases – on level with beef and crude oil industries.

One of the best ways to solve this problem is to get to the source of it – by optimising your Bitcoin mining hardware so that you can mine Bitcoin more efficiently. As of 2023, we are seeing the emergence of countless new Bitcoin miner hardware concepts that rank higher than any of their predecessors in terms of power consumption, energy efficiency, hash rate, and more. For example, the relatively new Antminer S19 Pro has an energy cost of around ten cents per kilowatt. In an industry that demands almost 1,500 kilowatt hours of power to mine just one Bitcoin, innovations like this couldn’t be coming at a better time.

One of the biggest innovations lately in crypto mining technology is the liquid cooling method. Here, liquids like coolants move through the pipes to release heat from the miner.

Renewable sources of energy are also empowering Bitcoin miners to continue earning a living from doing what they do best, all while saving the future of the planet while they are at it. Savvy BTC miners are also joining specific Bitcoin mining pools that use efficient algorithms, while distributing work efficiently amongst the community and keeping their overheads low.

Don’t forget to adjust your machine’s power management settings whenever you are not actively mining, in a bid to reduce your power consumption.

Did you know that you can also tune your card for better performance and efficiency when Bitcoin mining? Try dropping the GPU core to the maximum that is allowed (-502MHz) and be sure to set the memory clock to +250MHz. Cap the power limit at just under 80% too to really see a difference.

Clearly, there are countless ways to optimise your Bitcoin mining hardware and soften your impact on the only planet that we have to call home.
