The U.S. House of Representatives Financial Services Committee has reportedly scheduled a hearing related to cryptocurrencies and plans to discuss their future. The hearing is also intended to provide clarity for those who are participants within the digital assets ecosystem.
Yesterday, House Financial Services Committee chairman Patrick McHenry formally announced the committee hearing which has been titled: “The Future of Digital Assets: Providing Clarity for the Digital Asset Ecosystem.”
The crypto-related hearing is slated for the 13th of June at 2 pm EST. According to the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee, the hearing can be viewed live as it will be streamed in real-time on its website.
The Committee is tasked with overseeing the United States economy by monitoring specific elements, such as reserve banks, the United States Treasury, the Federal Reserve Board, capital markets, and the creation and distribution of currency.
Although specifics of what exactly would be discussed during the hearing were not provided, many within the community hope that the meeting will be used to address many of the more pressing issues facing the crypto market today.
In reference to the Securities and Exchange Commission’s recently filed lawsuits against Binance and Coinbase, one social media user stated that they would like to see the committee address what they referred to as “coordinated attacks” on major cryptocurrency exchanges.
Various other community members are requesting that the committee keep Commission Chairman Gary Gensler under control. One community member feels that Gensler has “disregarded” the topics that have been previously discussed in committee hearings.
The scheduling of the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee meeting follows a recent House of Representatives Agricultural Committee hearing. That hearing, held yesterday, was titled: “The Future of Digital Assets: Providing Clarity for Digital Asset Spot Markets.“
During that hearing the committee did discuss the future of crypto, speaking specifically about the draft bill that had been penned by U.S. Representative Glenn Thompson.
